An overview of breathing mechanics and their relationship to patients in our dental chair will be shared, along with breathing techniques and screening questions. Myofunctional therapy often improves airway function, and numerous studies have shown its efficacy in assisting patients with sleep apnea. Joy Raskie, RDH, has been a dental hygienist for over 22 years, but if you ask her, she'll tell you she still loves this profession as much as she did on day one. She stumbled into lasers 13 years ago, became instantly obsessed, and now spends her days helping dental teams feel confident, excited, and ready to use lasers in daily practice.

Course Description: Healthcare in every area should be evidence-based. For years, the medical profession has evolved to provide better guidance and protocols to establish the standard of care across the board, whereas dentistry is practiced on a spectrum. Evidence-based dentistry aims to integrate the best available evidence with clinical expertise and patient needs and preferences. The best available evidence is grounded in research that supports the treatment protocols used. The objective is to improve the quality of dental care our patients receive and to calibrate treatment protocols for clearer guidance. This course reviews the evidence-based clinical practice guidelines the American Dental Association has set for best practices and standards of care.
