Course Description: When did you last take a class on CDT procedure coding for dental hygiene services? Did you know the descriptor for D4355 changed in 2023? What about alternating the billing of D4910 and D1110? What procedure code do you use for a 10-year-old with all their permanent teeth? It's not D1120. What about all the new "fluoride codes"? What product goes with what code? So many questions.
There are currently seven distinct dental hygiene procedure codes for a "cleaning" to choose from -- each with a specific descriptor clearly outlining its allowable services. Are you selecting the correct one based on the dental hygiene diagnosis? Or are you or your business staff picking the one that receives the best reimbursement from an insurance carrier?
Insurance auditors are paying special attention to how you apply CDT codes D4355 and D4346 because of the history of these being billed incorrectly. Even an innocent mistake can lead to allegations of fraud and significant penalties.
And what about the ICD-10 Diagnostic Codes (817 of them) listed in the current CDT Procedure Codes Manual? How and why do we need to know these? So many questions!

Upon completion of this course, participants will be able to:

She currently serves as a Director for the DentalCodeology™ Consortium, reviewing and developing procedure codes relevant to dental hygiene practice which are presented to the Code Maintenance Committee of the American Dental Association each year.
