Special emphasis will be placed on the use of GLP-1 agonists and GLP-1/GIP agonists for the treatment of both diabetes and obesity.

Learning Objectives:

Upon completion of this course, participants will be able to:

  • Identify the different types of diabetes, including symptoms and differential diagnosis.
  • Describe the complex interplay of diabetes and the oral-systemic connection.
  • Review the classes of medications used in the treatment of diabetes and obesity.
  • Explore patient management strategies essential for successful treatment planning and proper patient care.

Course Description: Dental hygienists are uniquely positioned to influence comprehensive patient care -- without feeling like salespeople. This course explores how thorough assessments, active listening, and thoughtful communication can transform routine appointments into powerful moments of advocacy and education. Learn how to leverage your clinical observations and patient interactions to support whole-person care, enhance treatment acceptance, and elevate your role within the practice -- simply by saying what you see, hear, and know. No pressure. No pitch. Just purposeful prevention.

Learning Objectives:

Upon completion of this course, participants will be able to:

  • Identify key components of comprehensive hygiene assessments.
  • Review and refine the clinical and observational tools (visual, tactile, auditory) used during assessments to detect early signs of disease and systemic connections.
  • Demonstrate effective communication strategies by translating clinical observations into clear, meaningful explanations that build patient trust and support treatment acceptance.
  • Recognize the hygienist's role in influencing comprehensive care through proactive assessment and documentation.
  • Develop confidence in delivering value-driven education during the hygiene appointment by reframing routine conversations to highlight clinical expertise, educate patients, and reinforce the importance of prevention and whole-person care.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

State Requirements & Intended Audience

Do these continuing education (CE) courses meet the requirements for my state?

  • Today's RDH is an ADA CERP and AGD PACE-recognized provider, both of which are recognized by all 50 states. However, some states have specific requirements for certain CE courses, such as requiring board approval.

Your state's Dental Practice Act, which can be found on your state's Board of Dentistry/Board of Dental Examiners website, includes your allowable duties, requirements for licensure and renewal, CE requirements, and more. Please check your state's Dental Practice Act for your state's CE requirements.

If the state Board website and/or Practice Act is unclear or you have questions, it is best to contact the Board directly for clarification.

We highly encourage all dental healthcare professionals to regularly review their state's Dental Practice Act, as rules and CE requirements are subject to change.

Are these CE courses considered "live" or "in-classroom?"

  • These CE courses are presented live (not pre-recorded), presenters will be available to answer questions from participants (i.e., "interacting with the presenter"), and attendance will be continuously verified. The CE certificate of completion (CE certificate) will state they are live courses (i.e., Educational Method: Live Lecture).

Whether these CE courses are considered "live" or "in-classroom" depends on your state's CE requirements (please see disclaimers below). Please check your state's Dental Practice Act for your state's CE requirements, which can be found on your state's Board of Dentistry/Board of Dental Examiners website.

Are these courses only for hygienists, or can dentists, dental therapists, and dental assistants take them, too?

  • These courses can be taken by dentists, dental therapists, hygienists, and dental assistants. However, please check your state's Dental Practice Act for your state's CE requirements, which can be found on your state's Board of Dentistry/Board of Dental Examiners website. Or, check DANB requirements if you are certified through DANB.

Registration & Accessing Courses

When will I receive an email with links to each course?

  • You will receive a confirmation email from Eventbrite shortly after registering containing the course links toward the bottom: one link per course for a total of four links. Be sure to check your spam or junk and promotional email folders.

Do not share your links with anybody, or you will not receive your CE certificates of completion for attending. If you share your links and more than one person is logged on using your links, the tracking software that verifies how long you were in attendance for each course won't work correctly.

Is it possible to register for only a couple of the courses offered?

  • These courses are being sold as a package, not individually. If you prefer not to watch and receive CE credit for a particular course offered, you are free to step away during that time and return for other courses during the day.

Can we register as a group, or must each person register separately?

  • To receive CE credit, each person must register and log in to each course separately because CE certificates are awarded based on comparing individual registration and attendance duration for each course.

If a group is viewing on a shared device, only the registered and logged-in person will be eligible for CE credit.

How late can I register?

  • You can register up to 15 minutes before the last course of the day, or until the event sells out, whichever happens first.

Is there a cap on the number of attendees?

  • There is a cap of 5,000 attendees.

What happens if I get disconnected during a course?

  • If you are disconnected during a course, click on the course link again and log back in using the same name and email you registered with. If you continue to experience connection issues, try restarting your device or router and/or using a different device. However, please ensure you log back in using the same name and email address you registered with.

Do I have to watch this on a laptop?

  • You can watch from any device with an internet connection or data, including laptops, desktops, tablets, or smartphones. You'll see the presentation better on a laptop or something with a larger screen than a phone, but it's not required.

CE Event Format

Are these CE courses truly live and not pre-recorded?

  • Yes, these CE courses are presented live and in real-time. They are not pre-recorded. Being truly live is important because several state Dental Boards do not accept pre-recorded CE courses for live CE requirements. If you are audited and used pre-recorded CE courses toward your live CE requirement, they may not qualify, and you may fall short of your required courses.

Will this CE event be recorded and available for later viewing?

  • The courses are presented live, and you must attend the live event to earn CE credit. However, a recording of the courses will be made available to registered attendees for 30 days following the live event. These recordings are for registered attendees' personal review and rewatch only and do not qualify for CE credit.

Will this CE event be offered on any other days besides the one listed?

  • Because this is a live event, it can only be attended on the date and time it’s scheduled, similar to an in-person conference.

Why is this CE event on a Friday?

  • We hold CE events on either Fridays or Saturdays. We chose these days based on surveys that showed the majority preferred these days. Our last CE event was held on a Saturday (April 11, 2026), so we are holding this event on a Friday (June 5, 2026). We try to alternate days for each CE event.

Why is this CE event all day?

  • The CE event includes four courses, totaling eight CE credits (eight hours plus breaks between each course), which is why it's all day. We design CE events this way to maximize the live CE hours available, especially for those licensed in states that require live CE credits. Essentially, it is the virtual equivalent of attending CE courses at an in-person conference, but without the need to leave your house, and those in rural areas don't need to travel.

Do I have to sit and watch the whole thing? Can I attend this CE event if I'm at work?

  • We highly recommend watching and paying attention to each course, just as you would if you were attending an in-person dental conference to take continuing education courses. We do not recommend attending this CE event if you are at work or distracted.

Dentistry is an evidence-based healthcare profession, and continuing education is required for relicensure to keep professionals up-to-date on current patient care protocols, research, treatment modalities, techniques, and best practices. Its overarching goal is to enhance clinical and overall skills to protect patients' health and safety and best meet their needs. As a result, if you are not fully engaged or are distracted, these courses may not serve their intended purpose.

    If there
are certain courses you don't want credit for, you can step away at those times. There will be breaks in between the courses. Please note that you must be logged in to each two-hour course for a minimum of one hour and 40 minutes to receive credit, as per accreditation guidelines and standards. The webinar software tracks the time you are logged in, and there will be no exceptions made to those who do not attend for the minimum amount of time.

Are there breaks?

  • Yes, there will be 15-minute breaks between each course.

Will closed captioning be available during this CE event?

  • Yes, closed captioning will be available during the event. Attendees can choose to turn it on or off.

Can the course presenters hear or see me?

  • No, the speakers can't see or hear you. You interact with them through a live chat.

CE Certificates, Course Evaluations & Quizzes

When and how will I receive my CE certificate proof of completion?

  • You will receive your CE certificate of completion via email within seven days after the event concludes. Check your spam or junk and promotional email folders if you have not received your CE certificates or only received some of them.

You can also retrieve your CE certificates by creating an account at
https://certificates.todaysrdh.com. Instructions on how to create an account will be in the emails that include your CE certificates (one email per CE certificate).

It is very important that you use the same email address to log in to each individual course as you used to register for the event. If you use different emails, there is no way to verify your attendance with your registration.

Please note you must be logged in to each course for at least one hour and 40 minutes to receive CE credit.

Again, please give us seven days to verify attendance before reaching out to support.

Is it mandatory to fill out the course evaluations to receive CE credit?

  • It is not mandatory to fill out course evaluations to receive CE credit. However, they are greatly appreciated because they provide us with valuable feedback to improve future events.

Is there a quiz/assessment at the end of each course?

  • Unless your state requires a quiz/assessment to be taken at the completion of live CE courses, you are not required to take a quiz. For states requiring a quiz, quizzes for each course will be made available.

Your state's Dental Practice Act, which can be found on your state's Board of Dentistry/Board of Dental Examiners website, includes your allowable duties, requirements for licensure and renewal, CE requirements, and more.

If the state Board website and/or Practice Act is unclear or you have questions, it is best to contact the Board directly for clarification.

We highly encourage all dental healthcare professionals to regularly review their state's Dental Practice Act, as rules and CE requirements are subject to change.

Are these courses reported to CE Broker?

  • Not directly. Like an in-person conference, the CE certificate needs to be manually submitted to CE Broker. To do this, you will need to upload the CE certificate of completion to your CE Broker account.

Financials

Are there refunds?

  • Full refunds (minus Eventbrite fees) will be available through May 29, 2026. Starting May 30, 2026, no refunds will be offered. Please ensure you are available to attend before purchasing and that you have a strong and stable internet connection.

What is the processing fee and why is state sales tax applied?

  • The processing fee is the fee charged by our registration platform, Eventbrite, for using their software. Additionally, applicable state sales tax may be added to the final price.

Both the processing fee and any required state sales tax are added at checkout. The required state sales tax is collected and remitted by Eventbrite as mandated by law, while the processing fee is Eventbrite's service charge.

Why aren't these CE courses free?

  • There are costs associated with hosting events like this, including an IT team to ensure the event runs smoothly, speaker compensation, and software costs, among other expenses. To offer CE courses at no cost, we would need to have sponsors (i.e., manufacturers or companies pay for our expenses), and this event is completely non-sponsored.

Although there is a cost to attend this event, it tends to be more affordable than attending an in-person dental conference, especially for those in rural communities who have additional travel and hotel costs on top of in-person conference registration fees.

Future CE Events

When is your next live virtual CE event going to be?

  • We plan each live virtual CE event one at a time. We aren't organizing and planning our next event right now, so we don't know. However, if you'd like to be the first to know when we announce our next event, you can sign up for our email list by clicking here. We also offer on-demand (not "live") self-study CE courses, which can be found here.

IF YOU HAVE ANY MORE QUESTIONS, PLEASE EMAIL support@todaysrdh.com
